We are so excited to have New Jersey artist MEERA LEE PATEL join us for our Winter Collection to be released in August this year. We were thrilled when Meera approached us back at the beginning of the year, and are so very excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with her. Recently Meera has worked with such people as: FREE PEOPLE, TORERO, URBAN OUTFITTERS, ORGANIC GARDENING MAGAZINE, SOCIETY 6, REMEDY QUARTERLY and POKETO...

ARTBANK ROVING CURATOR: (AHD ARTIST) JOSEPH ALLEN SHEA...

"Throughout 2013 Artbank will present three online projects by independent curators. The Roving Curator program will unpack the Artbank collection through the unique perspectives and methodologies employed by these curators.

Joseph Allen Shea is first up. Joseph is an independent curator, publisher and gallerist. He has curated exhibitions for several institutions and art spaces in Sydney, London and Paris and published over 30 artists books, catalogues and monographs distributed worldwide. In 2010 he founded the site-specific exhibition project Gallery A.S. and will open Galerie Allen in Paris this year."

This piece is the product of my continuing studies into the relationship between shape, colour and the unpredictable medium of watercolour. Essentially, I have created spaces for the magic of the medium to occur while attempting to create a visual beauty.

About the Artist

I have been creating for the past 8 years and have been exhibiting for the majority of that time in solo and group exhibitions. My most recent exhibition was in Oct, 2012 at China Heights Gallery in Sydney. My favourite medium to work with is watercolour but I paint, do installations and murals too. I am inspired by repetition, colour, shape and things that form naturally and unpredictably.

DESIGN SPONGE 'SNEAK PEEK': THE HOME OF (AHD ARTIST) LEAH GOREN AND HER PARTNER DYLAN OUSLEY...

Last night it was lovely to discover the home of AHD artist LEAH GOREN and her partner Dylan Ousley on a favourite blog of ours, DESIGN SPONGE. 

"Leah Goren is an illustrator and surface pattern designer who runs an online shop that sells products printed with her whimsical, nature-inspired illustrations. (Her Red Cat tank is on Amy’s wish list). She shares this Brooklyn apartment with her boyfriend, graphic designer Dylan Ousley, who runs his own branding and design shop, named Home Ec. Leah describes Dylan’s aesthetic as sparse and Mid-Century modern, while she leans toward pastel colors, floral patterning and decorative odds and ends – much like her work. Though their decorating tastes differ, they certainly don’t clash; rather, they blend harmoniously throughout their apartment and workspace. The dining nook, filled with plants, light and fresh flowers, is their favorite thing about their home. Thank you, Leah and Dylan! -Shannon"

Today we are introducing a new series on the blog...HAPPENINGS. Here we will look at what our artists have been up to over the past months. For our first artist, we have decided to look at CHRISSIE ABBOTT. Chrissie's work for AHD PAPER CO. has been amongst our most popular, with her YOU ARE AMAZING card and posterWRAP one of our universal favourites. Her YOU ARE AMAZING posterWRAP was recently featured in the HOME Magazine Victoria's HERALD SUN.

Here just a few of the wonderful projects UK's CHRISSIE ABBOTT has been working on lately:

HAR MAR SUPERSTAR MIXTAPE: Chrissie was asked by Artiza to create imagery to accompany HAR MAR SUPERSTAR'S MIXTAPE  'Sensual Brunch.'

TYLER & LOUISE ART DIRECTION, ILLUSTRATION AND TYPOGRAPHY: Chrissie designed wedding invite for the couple Tyler and Louise.

BEATRICE ELI ILLUSTRATION & TYPOGRAPHY: Chrissie worked on Beatrice Eli's new EP 'It's Over.'

PHOTOWALL ILLUSTRATION:  Chrissie was commissioned through NU agency to create a wallpaper design for PHOTOWALL who produce limited edition murals and wallpaper.

 NEW YORK TIMES EDITORIAL & ILLUSTRATION: Chrissie was asked to create a collage of approximately 120 Mitt Romney faces for an article featured in the New York Times Magazine.

ASOS AUSTRALIA COLLECTION: Chrissie worked on the branding and imagery for the new and exclusive ASOS AUSTRALIA COLLECTION. This included logo design and rendering, backdrop design for live events and media.
